We are based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and work across East Africa and beyond. Our focus is twofold: rigorous research toward human-level intelligence (HLI), and practical systems for languages and environments that mainstream AI often skips—Kiswahili, Sukuma, on-device inference, and low-bandwidth deployment.
As an AI research lab in Tanzania, we publish open models, benchmarks, and research previews so communities can try, critique, and improve the work—rather than treating African language AI as an afterthought.
